The Story of Adkins Stadium

After years of the football team utilizing Jefferson City Public Schools’ Adkins Stadium, The soccer team playing and practicing on a field on Missouri 179, and the tennis team using Washington Park, Helias Catholic High School athletics are receiving a new home. Being completed later this summer a brand new stadium, holding two artificial turf fields offering football and soccer, track and field venues, eight tennis courts, grandstands, locker rooms and press facilities, will give the crusaders a place of their own.

“Currently over 60% of our student body (403 students) will make use of this facility on a day to day basis as members of athletic teams and extra-curricular groups. In addition, the facility becomes an outdoor classroom to be used by our physical education and outdoor education classes. It is a venue for multiple uses which enhances the community life of our school.”  – Kenya Fuemmeler,  Helias principal

Mid-America Sports Construction is in charge of installing a 191,207 SF Astroturf 3d52 football field as well as the 191,207 SF Astroturf XPe38 soccer field that includes rootzone. The installment of each field totals to $645,000 of the $7.1 million price the project holds. These two fields are giving the Helias community something they have never had.

“I know that this new athletic complex will be a great source of pride for Helias, for the students at our local Catholic schools who will put it to good use, and for the members of our greater community who just want to come out and walk on the track. It is something that benefits everyone!” – Fr. Stephen Jones,  Helias President
